Locals: The Twins

Joel and Jose Lopez need no introduction in the Middle GA car community. They've both been creating some of the highest quality projects for years, and I've been honored to photograph them since the beginning. Although they've stepped outside of the limelight for the past year or so, they haven't stopped doing cool things. Their latest projects are these matching Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883s, but a closer look reveals that these bikes are as unique as their respective owners.

Jose's bike has been lowered via a Legend Suspension airride kit. Shortened fenders and a solo seat from West Eagle clean up the rear end, while a Joker Machine speedo relocation and Biltwell Tracker bars do their part for the front. The Vance and Hines Short Shots make sure drivers hear him before they see him.

The most obvious change to Joel's Roadster is the Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather that sucks in plenty of air for Harley V-Twin. The tank area has been cleaned up as well with relocation kits from DK Customs. Joel went with Harley Davidson drag bars for his bike, using a Joker Machine riser to set them in their current location. The spent gases exit through the same Vance and Hines Short Shots as his brother, sitting right below a La Rosa solo seat.

Having very little knowledge of the two-wheeled world, I'm always surprised at the mod-lists of motorcycles that I was assumed were mostly stock. Do yourself a favor and look up a picture of a bone-stock Iron 883. You'll be shocked at how much sleeker and aggressive these two examples are.

This is the second time I've done rolling shots of motorcycles, and it is absolutely a rush. As much as I love seeing cars flying down the road, these bikes just make it so much more personal.

Joel is already talking to me about setting up a shoot with his Nissan 370Z, so this won't be the last we hear from these guys this year. It often seems like the prevailing process around Middle GA in this community is quick builds that necessitate shortcuts, but these two have never been about that. You can always expect quality, and for that, I'm grateful.
