Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance | 2016

2016 marked my 11th consecutive trip down to the Concours d'Elegance that's held each year in Amelia Island. My dad and I actually stumbled onto the event in 2004 on a family trip in Amelia, and I've returned each year since. I've always brought my camera, so one of the coolest unexpected benefits is being able to look back at my work each year, and see my progress in photography over the past 10 years. The setting is nearly always the same, slightly overcast, mid-day, so variations in my composition, editing, etc are super easy to identify and compare. For the past two years, I've used film. I believe that capturing vintage cars on film is magical. Many of us fell in love with cars on posters, magazines, and books of the eighties and nineties, so it recalls not only the nostalgia of the subject, but the medium as well. The following shots were done with my Nikon F3HP, a Nikkor 35-70 2.8, and a single roll of Kodak Ektar 100. The film was developed and scanned by The Indie Film Lab.
